Welcome to the Central Coast
We have a deep love of the scenery found along the California Coastline. Each orange that you see on the map represents a different spot that we highly recommend checking out if you’re making the drive and have some extra time. Hover over each of them to learn a little more about our favorite spots. Enjoy!

Jack Ranch Cafe'
Many know that James Dean was killed in a car accident at a very young age and at the height of his career. Many don't know that the site of his accident is only minutes away from Paso Robles. If you take the 5 freeway up to Paso from SoCal then you will cut over on Highway 46. Right off the highway, next to this café, you will see a plaque attached to a tree. This is the memorial for James Dean as it was the site of his fatal crash back in 1955. James Dean was Brittany’s ULTIMATE heartthrob in high school. Her dad even bought her a coffee mug featuring James Dean as he sent her to college on the East Coast so that she could smile when she thinks about all of the Rebels Without a Cause back home in California (cheesy, but true!)

Hearst Castle
If you have extra time, check out Hearst Castle during your stay. There is a ton of amazing history affiliated with this California landmark of the infamous William Randolph Hearst. The evening tours are filled with elegance and mystery as they offer a glimpse of 1930's life with living docents walking the grounds in period costumes.

Elephant Seals at Piedras Beach
This part of the California Coastline is just North of Cambria and the gi-nor-mous seals are truly a sight to be seen. Lainey, our Bull Mastiff, loves to bark at them as if she would even have a chance against them in the fighting ring. Yeah right, Lainey. Nice try.

Downtown San Luis Obispo
Since Brittany spent many hours working on a development project here, they would frequently stop for a quick bite or a cocktail along the creek to decompress. You can try Creekside Brew Co for an amazing outdoor vibe or venture over to Firestone Grill for some of the best BBQ in town. If you are like us and travel with 4-legged friends you are welcome to sit on the patio.

We both have a love of the California Missions, particularly
in the DeBeikes family where we were all raised in the Catholic church. There are so many to visit throughout California. SoCal locals can visit Mission San Juan Capistrano and those traveling North can stop at the Missions in Santa Barbara, Santa Ines, or San Luis Obpiso. We look forward to showing you Mission San Miguel on April 18th!

Pea Soup Andersen’s
This is Jason's favorite stop; we go every trip. It was founded in 1924 and still maintains it's original charm and character. Be sure to leave time for their gift shop and don't be afraid of the Traveler's Special. The record is 17 bowls. Jason's personal record is 4. Brittany maxes out at 1.5.

This quaint town is a favorite stop for Jason, particularly since they have dog friendly hotels. You will quickly feel transported to another place as you walk the town and take in the Danish architecture.

Neptune’s Net
Jason and Brittany have a deep love of the scenery found along the California Coastline. If we aren't in a rush then we will take Highway 1, stop here in Malibu for some quick seafood, and then enjoy the coastline all the way up to the 101 through the hills of San Luis Obispo. The green hills inland are just as gorgeous as the coastline through Santa Barbara.
